Senstar® Insecticide Now Labeled in Florida for Asian Citrus Psyllid Control During Bloom

24(c) Special Local Need supplemental label helps citrus growers manage the spread of citrus greening

SAN RAMON, Calif., – February 3, 2022 – Valent U.S.A. is proud to announce Senstar® Insecticide received a FIFRA Section 24(c) Special Local Need label for Florida citrus that can be applied during bloom for Asian citrus psyllid protection. Asian citrus psyllid is the primary insect that vectors Huanglongbing (HLB) or citrus greening in Florida, and Senstar is now available to protect Florida groves during bloom.

Senstar contains two effective modes of action that controls soft-bodied insects like Asian citrus psyllids, aphids and scales at all life stages—including eggs. Its two active ingredients spirotetramat (Group 23) and pyriproxyfen (Group 7C) fuel the residual control of eggs, nymphs and adults.

"Asian citrus psyllids can spread HLB very quickly across citrus trees and bring devastating tree and fruit losses in citrus groves throughout Florida,” says Carlos Granadino, Insecticide Product Development Manager of Senstar. “This special use label gives citrus growers a new tool to effectively manage Asian citrus psyllids and also reduce the spread of HLB at bloom."

How Senstar works:
