Field Discovery
State-of-the-Art Research Centers
At our two research centers in Illinois and Mississippi, our teams can replicate virtually any U.S. cropping system in growth chambers, greenhouses or field experimentations. Both research centers include large acre farms that are intentionally located in highly productive agricultural areas, making them ideal for evaluating new chemistry or biorational agents as well as new formulations of existing products. In the event that neither of these locations can provide the ideal testing environment, our Field Discovery Team can call on a network of field cooperators to generate field research data under strict secrecy agreements. All such testing is conducted without the risk of public disclosure, thus contributing valuable intellectual property for Valent as well as our partner companies.
Mid-South Agricultural Research Center (MSARC)
Located in Leland, Mississippi, MSARC includes a grow room, greenhouse laboratories, a sample distribution warehouse, a seed treatment pathology laboratory and land for both small plot research and large-scale field trials. Research at the Mississippi Delta facility relates to the area’s diverse array of crops including rice, cotton, corn, soybeans, peanuts, wheat, sorghum and vegetables.
Midwest Agricultural Research Center (MWARC)
Valent U.S.A.'s Midwest Agricultural Research Center (MWARC) is a technologically advanced 160-acre research farm focused on sustainability and precision agriculture. Located near Champaign, Illinois, the MWARC includes a teaching and learning center, a seed protection unit, greenhouses with spray chambers, a commercial seed treater, a long-term soil health study and more.
Our Tested Product Pipeline
The Field Discovery Team has a major hand in evaluating many of the crop protection as well as plant and soil health products that Valent sells today. Additionally, they continue to create the future of agriculture in close cooperation with Sumitomo Chemical and Valent BioSciences’ global research network.
